  • Teeth and clasps can be added later

  • More stain-resistant than other flexible acrylics

  • Has the perfect degree of flexibility

  • Can be rebased and repaired

  • Will not warp or become brittle

  • More comfortable, durable and stronger
  • Guaranteed for life against breakage

Indications

  • An aesthetically superior removable partial with full functionality and comfort

  • Ideal for patients considering a removable partial, but don't want metal clasps

  • Perfect for patients that are allergic to monomer

  • Excellent implant temporary partial

  • The invisible flexible partial — no metal clasps

  • Can be used in combination with metal framework or precision attachments

Compare

To keep them in place, traditional partial dentures are made of metal, which can be very noticeable, uncomfortable and even damaging. Sunflex's unique material blends with the natural gum tissue providing virtually invisible support and a much more attractive smile.

Preparation

No tooth preparation is needed. Simply use a light alginate impression that is poured up immediately and a counter-model.

Insertion Techniques

1. Submerge the Sunflex® Partial Denture in very hot water for approximately one minute.

2. When the partial cools to a tolerable temperature, gently insert it into the patient’s mouth.

3. In case of clasp tightness, the clasp may be loosened by submerging that part in hot water for 30 seconds, removing it and gently bending the clasp out while holding it underneath running cold tap water.

4. The clasp can also be tightened by following the same procedure but bending the clasp inward. If the restoration needs further adjustment we recommend the Sunflex® Brown Rubber Points in our Sunflex® Tool Kit.

5. Use a low speed set to about 1700 RPMs and use fast, light scraping back and forth motions to reduce area. DO NOT grind in one spot, be sure to keep the point in constant motion (too much pressure may burn or distort the restoration). The rubber point is very gentle and will reduce slowly, evenly and leave a smooth surface.

6. Usually repolishing is not necessary for minor adjustments. If major adjustments are needed, follow the same procedure as above and then buff with a small buff wheel (using the same technique as with the Brown Rubber Point, slow speed, rapid back and forth movements).

NOTE: Fibers that appear during grinding can be removed with a very sharp blade.

For more information on adjusting our partial dentures, read this Quick Technique article from Dentistry Today Magazine: Chairside Adjustments for Sunflex Partial Dentures.

Preparation for Adding Teeth

1. Be sure the base of the partial is completely clean.

2. Take an alginate impression with the partial in place in the mouth.

3. Make sure that the partial denture is fully seated in the impression material.

4. Pour up immediately.

5. Send to Sun Dental Labs with instructions.

6. When you receive the partial back from Sun Dental Labs and are ready to fit it into the patient’s mouth, follow the hot water submersion procedure again, if necessary.

7. Remind your patients to read and follow the instructions found in “Patient Care".

Preparation for a Rebase

Due to the nature of this product, a traditional reline cannot be made; however, the partial denture can easily be rebased by Sun Dental Labs.

1. Take a rubber base impression under the partial.

2. The patient should close the mouth as the rubber base material sets.

3. Once set, take an alginate impression with the partial in place.

4. Remove the impression from the mouth, keeping the partial in the light alginate impression. Pour the model immediately. NOTE: Do not separate the partial from the model (the laboratory needs to work with the partial on the model).

5. Send to laboratory with instructions.

6. When you receive the partial from Sun Dental Labs and are ready to fit it into the patients mouth, follow the hot water submersion procedure again.
